2010 Advent Calendar 1 December 2010

I can't believe the Advent season is with us again so soon ... this year has flown by, but what a year it's been!

As many of you will know, the Timeline Advent Calendar seeks to capture some of the year's Meady memories and so takes a vaguely chronological look back at events during 2010. Deviations from the chronology are entirely at the whim of the author!

Alongside, I am launching the Timeline's 2010 Advent Appeal and my chosen charity this year is Great Ormond Street Hospital - a worthy cause at any time and one which seemed particularly relevant in a year which has seen Lee and Denise welcome their daughter to the world.

This year however, the Advent Calendar is a little different ... to accompany the usual virtual goodies, there are real goodies to be won in a Daily Draw, open to all who donate to the Appeal.

Every 2 donated secures one entry ticket to the Daily Draw. Tickets will remain valid until either they win or we run out of draws (the final draw will be on Christmas Day). You can donate as much or as little as you like (subject to JustGiving's minimum donation of 2), and you can make additional donations at any time.

Please note that donations made while the daily draws are taking place (i.e. until 25 December) are NOT eligible for GiftAid because you will be receiving draw tickets in return. See the FAQs for more info. Any donations made after this date will and you should tick the appropriate boxes if you are a UK tax payer.

To donate, simply go to the Timeline's 2010 Advent Appeal JustGiving page. Then, to be sure you are entered in the Daily Draw, please forward your JustGiving receipt(s) to me at: [email address no longer valid]. I will do a round-up before each draw to ensure latest donations are included.

The Daily Draw will take place ... wait for it ... every day! At the end of every day to be precise, to allow maximum time for entries. As I will mostly be alone at that time of day, I will use this Random Number Generator to select the winning ticket.

Prizes range from the tiny to the really quite special, are drawn from the days of Any Dream Will Do right up to date, and will be detailed on each day's Advent Calendar page. Some items are completely unique, some are signed (by Lee, not by me!), all are full of Meady-goodness! If I'm sufficiently organised, I may even tweet a picture of the day's prize - so if you're not already following, you can find the Timeline on Twitter at www.twitter.com/LeeMeadTimeline.

The Advent Calendar will open for business on 1 December, but the JustGiving page is up and running now!

Finally, in response to a number of questions, I have put together a set of FAQs ... and some answers! So, if you're unsure about any of the above, please check these out first :)
