Lee joined Nick Coffer by phone on his Lunchtime Show for BBC 3CR this afternoon, ahead of his forthcoming concert at the Wycombe Swan on Wednesday 12 November.
It was a well-researched interview, delving into the how and why rather than simply skimming over the what, with Lee giving his usual thoughtful responses to questions ranging from his earliest days on the Portsmouth Bilbao ferry to life on the Casualty set.
Lee referenced 'next summer' for his new album release, later than we have heard previously, but tying in with the likely timing of his 2015 tour - a tour which promises to build on the success of this year's dates which have been so well received at venues across the country. You have just three more opportunities to see Lee singing live this year - the above-mentioned Wycombe Swan gig on 12 November, the West Cliff Theatre in Clacton-on-Sea on 16 November and the grand finale, Christmas with Lee Mead, at London's Garrick Theatre on 7 December.
Nick closed the interview by playing Anthem from Lee's last album Love Songs - what a delight to hear it again on the radio after it was returned to Lee's tour set last night in Aberystwyth.
