SERIES 28, EPISODE 35 - CARROT NOT STICK
An episode we'd been waiting to see since clips from it first appeared in the Casualty winter trailer video - fondly known as the 'puppy episode' - the combination of Lee and an adorable Rottweiler puppy called Rocky, or 'Gherkin' in character, proved pretty darn irresistible. Click the pic (right) for screencaps from the episode.
Radio Times: "There's a pair of £400 killer heels at the foot of Max’s bed, which can only mean one thing: yes, the randy porter has charmed Zoe into bed. But will Robyn put two and two together after clocking the discarded footwear?
At the ED, Dixie and Lofty embark on a road trip in a camper van complete with a sick patient and a Dolly Parton soundtrack. But not getting actor Lee Mead to join in with the Jolene singalong feels like a massive missed opportunity. As for the emergencies – well, there's some business involving a wood chipper, a chainsaw and John Bowe (who'll forever be the killer in the original Prime Suspect), but unfortunately it's not as dramatic as it sounds."
Synopsis: Dixie tells injured motorbike rider and new friend Leo that his mother is in a hospice and that if he doesn't visit her soon, it may be too late - so she risks her job to take him to see her. Zoe tries to find out the history of Ginny, a middle-aged woman who collapsed at her birthday party - and when the reason for her illness eventually comes out, everyone is stunned into silence. Fletch is desperate for cash, forcing him to ask for extra shifts, while Cal tries to flirt with Lily. With guest appearances by Jan Francis (Just Good Friends) and John Bowe (Corrie's Duggie Ferguson).
With my ever grateful thanks to the anonymous editor and my profuse apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, here's the 'Meady bits' edit!
