SERIES 29, EPISODE 11 - ASYLUM
Returning to the regular Casualty storylines after last week's excursion into darker realms, Lee featured in the one for which the episode was named - that of a young woman seeking asylum. It showed Lofty's serious side once more, but there was also the first inkling of things to come between Lofty, or should I say Ben, and Dylan as the latter made his presence felt on another locum shift in the Department ... and, for me at least, that's a delicious prospect!
Lee mentioned on stage in Aberystwyth that he had been involved in some great storylines in recent months and, as his contract enters its second year, we have certainly been seeing the evidence of that. The inevitable break in filming when he takes time out for panto at Christmas will be a real wrench when it filters through to our screens next year!
Synopsis: Lofty helps an asylum seeker, Ash loses it in resus and Ethan struggles with a diagnosis requiring Dylan to step in...
An asylum seeker is admitted after a fall but when she refuses life-saving surgery because of her religious beliefs, Ash becomes increasingly frustrated in his attempts to convince the patient to change her mind. Big Mac experiences his first day as a health care assistant, and tries to help a Burmese man reunite with the daughter he hasn't seen since she was a young girl, and Ethan has trouble diagnosing a teenager who is convinced she has cancer like her mum - so Dylan steps in to help.
The full episode will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer until Monday 22 December, and there are also screencaps for you to enjoy. Finally, with my ever grateful thanks to the anonymous editor and my apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, here's the 'Meady bits' edit!
