SERIES 29, EPISODE 22 - SWEET LITTLE LIES
I've been waiting for more evidence of the Lofty/Dylan 'double act' ever since Exec Producer, Oliver Kent, and Series Producer, Erika Hossington, first mentioned it in an interview in October last year!
It was worth waiting for... Lee has shown us before how much he can do with a good storyline, and tonight's pairing with William Beck - with Dylan bluntly dismissive of Lofty's nursing instincts as they treated a patient with something to hide - gave him exactly that opportunity. I hope there will be very much more... both of this "great team" (to quote Lofty) and of Lofty's 'straight' involvement in serious storylines, rather than as department clown.
Synopsis: Lofty and Dylan bond over a patient with a big secret. With Lofty questioning and Dylan digging deep to find her treatment notes, eventually the patient has to admit the truth. While Connie helps a teenage girl who has Tourette's syndrome accept that she needs help. Having taken the report personally, Charlie suspects that there's more to Connie's 'high standards'. It turns out that Connie's dad died in an Emergency Department corridor. An elderly patient who comes to the ED complaining of fatigue and breathlessness brings her so-called psychic dog with her claiming he can sense illness. Lily disregards her symptoms and asks her to leave.
The full episode will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer until Monday 23 March, and there are also a few screencaps for your enjoyment. Finally, with my ever grateful thanks to the anonymous editor and my apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, here's the 'Meady bits' edit!
