Lee was joined by Jodie Prenger and Claire Sweeney at a Sunday Lunch with the Stars event at Hitchin Priory on Sunday 19 September.
The charity cabaret lunch was organised by Neil Rutherford, compere and fourth member of the cabaret team, as the final fund-raising event in the Youth Wing Appeal of the Queen Mother Theatre, Hitchin.
Neil, a former actor and now casting director for the Ambassador Theatre Group, was one of the first to join the Bancroft Players Youth Theatre at the QMT in the 1980s and was delighted to be able to return 'home' to support the appeal in this way.
QMT Chairman, Richard Whitmore, said to the Hitchin Comet: "We’re so lucky to be able to celebrate the appeal’s achievement in this way. For one of our first youth members to be able to attract such a stellar line-up of artistes, all prepared to perform free of charge, shows how our project has caught everyone’s imagination."
The event itself was a wonderful afternoon of laughter and song (and excellent food), enjoyed by local supporters of the theatre, along with fans of the artistes involved. An enthusiastically-supported charity auction raised additional funds for the appeal.
Lee was tested by Neil with a very, very fast new arrangement of 'Dancing Through Life' - I should think he was enormously grateful he was only required to sing on this occasion, although he was initially somewhat thrown by the 'standing' start! - and he later returned to sing 'Anthem' and finally 'Close Every Door'.
I have included the full setlist on a separate page, along with downloads of Lee's numbers.
