Lee was amongst the acts lined up by Bobby Davro for his 2014 Gala Spectacular in aid of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices, which took place at Woking's New Victoria Theatre on Sunday 12 October.
The bill was somewhat eclectic - including singers Shakin' Stevens, Bucks Fizz and Zoe Birkett, comedians Hal Cruttenden and Tom Binns and ventriloquist, Paul Zerdin - and you can read more about the event in these articles on Get Surrey and on the charity's website.
For my part, I was lucky enough to be there to witness in person a fabulous performance from Lee - expecting perhaps just one song, I was delighted that the capacity audience was treated to not one, not two, but three songs from the set list of Lee's ongoing 2014 tour to close the first act.
The first two were upbeat numbers, entirely fitting for the energy of the evening - 'Luck Be A Lady' and 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' - the audience clapping along and whooping in appreciation at the finish. But it was his third song choice that raised the roof as Lee gave one of the very best performances of 'Bring Him Home' that I have ever heard , from him or anyone else. The consensus on twitter that evening was 'stunning' as tweet after tweet used that same word to describe it, singling out Lee as one of their highlights of the evening... I particularly like this from the pianist who accompanied him:
October press round-up.
I took only a handful of photos which I share below, including a couple of Paul Zerdin for good measure, as I too was once again spellbound by the man in front of me!
