Love Songs album release .. 13 February 2012
Lee Mead - Love Songs, 2012 Lee Mead's eagerly-anticipated third album 'Love Songs' was released in February 2012. In a selection ranging from the highly charged 'Anthem' from Chess (the only musical theatre number on the album, but one that sits very comfortably with its overall theme), through the more haunting melodies of Coldplay's 'Fix You' and Glen Hansard's 'Falling Slowly' and classics such as 'She' and 'Hallelujah, to Jack Johnson's more upbeat 'At Or With Me', the emphasis is on simple but classy arrangements (from producer and musical director, Mason Neely) which really allow the lyrics and Lee's beautiful voice to shine through.

It was Lee's first self-produced album, after his two album deal with Fascination (Polydor) came to an end, and he has clearly relished the freedom both to choose the material and to have creative input into the feel of the album.

He has spoken often of selecting the songs for this album and it's clear they are not only a collection of love songs but of songs that he himself loves ... and that really comes across when he performs them live. Check out reports from the Love Tour which accompanied the album release for more thoughts on just how good this album is!

There was the added bonus of a secret photo gallery, initially accessible via a QR code on the CD but, shhhhh... it's hosted on Lee's website and it contains some real gems! The full track-listing is on the CD booklet (click right for scans) and in the Discography along with lyrics for all tracks, and you can still buy the album at Amazon, though it is sometimes in short supply.

The promo video below was filmed on the Embankment in London, not far from the Savoy Theatre where Lee was then starring in Legally Blonde (and where the secret gallery photos were snapped!). Lee Mead - LoveSongs 2012 from Peter Falloon on Vimeo
