Another Twitter heads-up from Lee let us know of his radio chat with Jamie Crick for Encore Radio - it aired a few days later in the 12 noon Musical Me slot on Saturday 7 July. With the tag line "Encore Radio plays songs from your favourite musicals, all day, every day" this station was a very natural home for Lee as he talked about his fabulous 10 Year Anniversary tour and album, both celebrating the amazing decade since Lee first won and played the role of Joseph in the West End.It was a relaxed and illuminating chat, my one disappointment being that having asked Lee during the course of it to choose four tracks from his album, they opted to play other people's versions of two of them! With no disrespect to the artists involved, that seemed a bizarre decision in the midst of a featured interview focusing on Lee!
Thankfully you can hear his own hauntingly simple Hushabye Mountain and stunning Bring Him Home on the album and, even better, live on tour ... it's a little over half way through already, but twelve dates remain - on Friday/Saturday/Sunday of the last weekends of July, September, October and November, culminating in a home-town finale for Lee in Southend's Palace Theatre.
