SERIES 28, EPISODE 27 - THE LAST CHANCE SALOON
Anticipation had been building for so long for this episode that it might have been something of an anti-climax. I am very happy to say, it was anything but. I liked the first inklings we were given of 'Lofty's' character and loved the way that Lee portrayed them - I look forward to seeing how the role develops over the coming months and hope for some great storylines once the hiatus of Lee's panto commitment works its way through the filming schedules.
Radio Times: "Musical theatre star Lee Mead joins the team as new nurse Ben "Lofty" Chiltern, a likeable character who gets off to a bad start when he's discovered squatting in the attic of Robyn's house.
This is the first regular acting role for Mead, having been the winner of BBC1's 2007 casting show Any Dream Will Do. But signing to Casualty doesn't mean he's putting the singing behind him. In fact, an upcoming concert in Cardiff will see him joined by a co-star: "Iíve managed to get Derek Thompson [Charlie] to come along and sing a song," he tells RT. "He toured the cabaret scene for years and it looks like he'll be popping in to do a number."
Synopsis: Robyn confronts an intruder in her home, but when she gives chase she ends up impaling her foot on a garden rake. Will the trespasser stop to help or make good his escape? A heavily pregnant woman is rushed to hospital in severe pain, and Lily shows her softer side by taking on her treatment. However, Ash is disappointed to discover the defiant young doctor hasn't followed all his instructions and decides to teach her a lesson. Musical theatre star Lee Mead joins the cast as new nurse Lofty.
And finally, with my grateful thanks to the anonymous editor and my profuse apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, here's the 'Meady bits' edit! There are also just a few *cough*
screencaps - well, it was his first episode!
