SERIES 30, EPISODE 17 - A LIFE LESS ORDINARY
In an episode that was all about Cal, with beautiful work from Rich Winsor, Lee begins and ends the episode in lighter vein, introducing 'lean, mean nursing machine' Lofty, but in between puts his nursing skills to good use and in doing so charms one of Cal's elderly patients who, clasping his hand tightly, says something many of us must often have thought... "haven't you got beautiful eyes"!
Synopsis: In a special Casualty episode, Cal struggles with his recent terrifying discovery and has well and truly gone off the rails. It's the morning after the night before and he jumps in his car realising he's late for work. But he's involved in a crash and recognises that he could still be over the limit. Ethan is furious with him, not understanding the half of what Cal's going through.
Charlie is concerned for him and tries to talk to him while Ethan assumes Cal is upset about losing Matilda, and consoles him. Charlie alludes to Connie that Cal needs a break and she helps cover for him when the police arrive. As he sees how much people care about him, he breaks down. But will be discover he's braver than he thinks?
Finally, with my ever grateful thanks to the anonymous editor and my apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, here's the 'Meady bits' edit!
