The first series of Jane McDonald and Friends on Channel 5 was so successful that a second was immediately commissioned and after appearing on the first back in March, when he sang his stunning version of Bring Him Home from Les Misérables (also featured on his latest album), Lee was again invited to appear as a guest.Interviewed recently about the new series by What's On TV, Jane had this to say about Lee's performance "one of the best moments was having Lee Mead on. Watching him sing to the camera was breath-taking, that guy's a star." I'm not going to argue with that!
The show was recorded a few weeks back and with the series airing in July, perhaps it was fate that the episode in which Lee featured was broadcast on Friday 27 July... as he was live on stage at the Stockport Plaza for the first of his 10 Years tour July concerts!
With the heads-up that he would be singing a 'new' song (for him), from the hit film The Greatest Showman, I was hopeful that he might share it live with us on the night... and so he did, singing From Now On, without the choir and backing singers but with ALL the passion, a little before it aired to the rest of the nation.
Later, of course, we caught up with the version below. What fabulous production, and as for the vocal... simply stunning. If that doesn't put Lee's hat firmly in the ring for any West End stage production of The Greatest Showman, nothing will!
