Stars from the worlds of film and theatre read from and enacted Fleming’s work, including some material never heard before, and a 60-piece orchestra accompanied some of the biggest names in music as they performed the best-loved Bond themes.
Listed in the programme - click the image above/right to view in full - is the host of stars taking part in this wonderful event which, through music, words and film, revelled in everything Bond: the villains, the cars, the guns, the gadgets, and the girls.
You can hear Lee's contribution here. NB audio quality on the original recording was very poor, so my thanks to an anonymous donor for a much clearer version. It was however missing the first few bars so I've edited the two together - you'll notice the improvement in sound quality a few seconds in!
LEE MEAD - FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
Incidentally, Lee was to sing this again at a later concert to celebrate the life and work of Lionel Bart which was recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 2's 'Friday Night is Music Night' - you may want to check out the rather better quality recording from that occasion!
My thanks to Karen C and Abs for sharing their photos from the evening - click on any below to view the full Gallery.
