Lee Mead in Concert .. 2014

Lee is having a very busy year, fully committed to his contract with BBC's serial drama, Casualty, which leaves him limited time for touring. But happily the lure of performing live is strong and he has concert dates scheduled throughout the year. Most gigs are on Sunday evenings, within 2-3 hours of Cardiff so that he can get back in good time to be on set at 7am sharp Monday morning!

The tour kicked off in Cardiff in May and goes coast to coast from mid-Wales to Essex, with many stops in between, culminating with a Christmas show in London on 7 December. For fans based further afield, who are unable or unwilling to travel, Lee hopes to include some more northerly dates on his 2015 tour.

After the first two dates on the tour, I can say that Lee has put together a great set of music, drawing both on his albums and on his own musical theatre background and inspirations, notably the classic era of MGM movie musicals. Backed by a fantastic three-piece band, their evident enjoyment is infectious, helped along by Lee's easy manner and ready humour.

But mostly, it's all about the voice - Lee really impresses vocally and has an innate ability to interpret a song that can move you to tears, or to raucous laughter! He will be joined on several dates by his good friend, Stephen Rahman-Hughes, well-known to Lee's fans from their time together in the West End Men and mutual 'guest slots' at Lee's Pheasantry gig last August and Stephen's Hippodrome Casino gig earlier this year... and when the two of them get together, the musical sparks fly!
