Up Front and Centre dates .. 2017

Tweet As the last of Lee's 2016 concerts loomed (the sell-out Steve and Lee Both Sides Now date at London's Hippodrome Casino on 27 November), it was a delightful surprise to read that we could look forward not just to one or two gigs, but to a monthly residency at Lee's favourite London venue, the wonderfully intimate Pheasantry in Chelsea, running all the way from February to November. With eleven dates in total (there are two shows on Mother's Day in March), this style of residency is the first of its kind in the venue's history - a real testament to just how well Lee's past shows there have been received.

The band line-up for the concerts, presented in association with SOS Ltd, is currently listed as Lee Mead (vocals - well, of course!), Tommy Emmerton (guitar) and Michael Riley (piano), though a rehearsal pic tweeted by Lee suggested we would also be treated to the magic fingers of Mr John Pearce on the fiddle. [And so we were!]

If you're unfamiliar with the venue (well... some of you might be!) - The Pheasantry is one of the popular Pizza Express music venues, with cabaret style tables at which you can eat before the show. Seating is unreserved at time of booking but, in a change to previous policy, tables are allocated in order of booking, so there is now no advantage in arriving early and queueing for admission. Doors open around an hour before show-time. Bookings for one will be seated at shared tables, so don't worry about going on your own, you'll be surrounded by like-minded music lovers.

Lee also took this wonderful show north, for one night only, to Yarm (near Middlesbrough) on Saturday 7 October.
