He Built This City .. 13 February 2022
Lee Mead - He Built This City, a tribute to Sir David Amess - Southend Feb 2022 It was announced on BBC Essex on 6 January that Lee would be one of the headliners at the inaugural Southend City Concert, which in this first year will honour the life of Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West for 24 years, who was fatally stabbed at his constituency surgery on 15 October last year.

Billed fittingly as He Built This City, the concert will take place at 5pm on Sunday 13 February at the Cliffs Pavilion, with tickets on sale now at £25 (concessions £15). The theatre has given the stage free for the event and all proceeds will be given to the five charities Sir David supported: Dame Vera Lynn Memorial Statue, Dogs Trust, Endometriosis UK, the Music Man Project and Prost8.

Lee shared his feelings about the event on Twitter: "Proud to be a part of this show on Sunday 13th February in honour of Sir David. I’ll be singing a few songs and talking about my fond memories of him. Please come and support his charities in his honour. It’s going to be a special evening."
