Amongst them were a small group of Lee's fans, happy as always to see him perform and very much enjoying the chance to dress up and share the glitzy occasion with friends. A champagne reception, delicious food, flowers and feathers, silverware and glasses glittering in the candlelight, ballgowns and bling and bow ties ... and Lee, it really was a wonderful evening!
Joining Lee on stage were his producer, Mason Neely, on drums, Richie Blake on bass and Steven Reid Williams on keyboards, for a forty minute set consisting of tracks from Lee's latest album 'Love Songs' and musical theatre classics - delivered in that beautifully rich, smooth voice which soared over the background hubbub.
The set list went something like this:
- The Garden - after which Lee invited us onto the dance floor - it would have been rude not to join him ;)
- Better - background noise levels from here on in were pretty bad...
- Music of the Night
- Close Every Door
- Falling Slowly
- I Believe When I Fall In Love
- Anthem
- Bring Him Home - an appeal for queit from the MC for Lee's last song brought the clammer down to a dull roar!
