On 1 November 2009 a cast of 200 filled Abbey Road studios in their biggest ever recording session - recording their tribute to the British armed forces, past and present, 'We Will Remember Them'. Released for download on 8 November, the CD was available from 7 December, with two bonus tracks and a DVD containing an extended version of the video that is also viewable online.
The recording raised funds for Help For Heroes and the Royal British Legion - to give hope and help to troops whose lives have been blown apart by devastating injuries and the families of those who have given their lives serving their country.
Taking part were: Michael Bolton, Paul Carrack, Carol Decker, Robin Gibb, Natasha Hamilton, Liz McClarnon, Lee Mead, Mica Paris, Paul Rodgers and Hayley Westenra; supported by a celebrity choir including Steve Balsamo, Neil Bryden, Margo Buchanan, Claudia Fontaine, J'Anna Jacoby, Kenney Jones and Mark Read (who co-wrote the song with Robert Hart). They were accompanied by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Drumming, the Carmel Thomas Youth Choir and the David & Carrie Grant Gospel Choir.
