Sister Act first show .. 24 April 2024
Sister Act - Dominion Theatre, London - Summer 2024 News broke earlier today that musical theatre star Lee Mead will join the West End cast of Sister Act at the Dominion Theatre this summer. He will play Eddie Souther, opposite the previously announced Alexandra Burke (as Deloris Van Cartier) in the role of Eddie Souther (currently played by Clive Rowe), beginning performances on 10 June.

Lee commented: "I'm beyond thrilled to be taking over the role of Eddie in this wonderful show with such a talented cast! I can remember first seeing the show back in 2009 at the Palladium and thinking how much fun it was. Summer 2024 looks like it's going to be an exciting one!"

In addition, Ruth Jones (Gavin and Stacey) has extended her run as Mother Superior through to 3 August, when Lesley Joseph (who currently stars as Sister Mary Lazarus in the production) will tale over the role until 31 August.

Jones said: "I'm having a crackin' time playing Mother Superior and am not ready to hang up my habit just yet! It's such a pleasure to be part of this uplifting production, and to see the joy it brings our audiences night after night. And I'm looking forward to welcoming Alexandra and Lee to the convent so that they can be part of it too!"

Also extending their current runs in the production are Lemar (as Curtis Jackson), Alison Jiear (as Sister Mary Patrick), and Carl Mullaney (as Monsignor O’Hara). The company is completed by Lizzie Bea (as Sister Mary Robert), alongside Caroline Bateson, Natalia Brown, Damian Buhagiar, Tricia Deighton, Lori Haley Fox, Lauren Hall, Chloe Hopcroft, Tom Hopcroft, Bradley Judge, Claudia Kariuki, Graham MacDuff, Castell Parker, Emma Ralston, Anne Smith, Michael Ward and Jermaine Woods.

UPDATE 18/06/2024: The reviews are in! Not many, because the show was fully reviewed when it opened earlier in the year, but I'll add any more as they appear. You can also read my own thoughts here.

Ticket availability is currently good, especially towards the end of the run - my quick tip is to ignore the big 'Find My Seats' button and click 'No thanks, I'll find my own' if you want to see all available seats. Also, if you're happy to book last minute, £30 Rush tickets are available on the day via the Today Tix App.

Finally please note: Lee is not appearing from 27 July to 3 August (the show's website currently says 2 August, but I'm taking Lee's word!) and while this casting announcement covers the period to 31 August, he is also not appearing that day, making his last show Friday 30 August.
