In a busy episode, with the main focus on the denouement of Connie's arrest, and Lofty having barely any involvement in the two secondary storylines tackling child abuse and dementia, Lee's presence was fleeting! However, that's more than we're likely to see of him for several weeks (VE Day 70 celebration next week, the Bucharest episode the week after and Eurovision the week after that, and potential further absence due to his filming break last Christmas for panto).
Synopsis: It's the day of Connie's trial for Alfred's murder: but if Rita comes clean and Charlie takes the tranquilizers to the police, could she clear her name?
Dixie attends a care home where a young girl has cut her wrists. She's admitted into the Emergency Department, where Rita sees that the patient is vulnerable and suspects she is being abused. Rita helps the young girl get bittersweet justice. An elderly woman is brought into the Emergency Department with hypothermia and suspected dementia. When her daughter, Eileen, arrives she hits out at her and Eileen admits to Big Mac that it's difficult living with her mother's illness. Big Mac encourages mother and daughter to seek support.
Meanwhile, Louis is in trouble in a hospital in Bucharest. Connie and Charlie go to help him... [looks like the answer to the first question posed is 'yes', then!]
Finally, there are some screencaps and, with my ever grateful thanks to the anonymous editor and my apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, here's the 'Meady bits' edit!
