S19-E33 : ENIGMA
Wow! Where do I even begin? There had been huge spoilers for this episode, so the storyline itself came as no surprise to me, but I was totally blown away by Lee's delivery of it - and I'm being deliberately vague here for those who may not have seen it yet!
Lee has praised Jermain Julien's brilliant direction, and rightly so, but it was he who was in front of the cameras and he absolutely nailed Lofty's most challenging storyline to date. It was a perfectly pitched, emotional and utterly believable performance and, judging by the reaction on Twitter, I'm far from alone in thinking so.
It was ten years ago last Friday that Lee sang Paint It Black on Any Dream Will Do - and for me, tonight's episode was a similar defining moment in his time as Lofty. While Paint It Black was certainly a stand-out moment, it was far from the end of the journey... and on the basis of tonight's episode, I'm hugely excited to see just where Lee and Lofty and the Holby City writers take us in the weeks and months to come.
Synopsis: When a friend from Lofty's past is admitted to Keller, Lofty is forced to confront his colourful past. He soon realises that he can't ignore his demons and needs to put things right in order to get his life back on track and move on.
Finally, with my apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, here's the 'Meady bits' edit!
