S19-E40 : SLEEP WELLLee was well up the cast list for this episode, fourth in fact, but with no mention of Lofty in the admittedly brief synopsis published in the Radio Times, I have come to the conclusion that the cast are listed in order of appearance with no regard to their actual level of involvement in the episode!
This theory was borne out by Lofty strolling into sight before the opening credits had finished rolling... doing a little car whispering then disappearing into the hospital to pop up reasonably regularly, if briefly, throughout the ep, even breaking out from his regular Sacha/Dom triangle to engage with Raf and Essie. But even in a week when Lofty features only briefly, the character feels more finely drawn than in Lee's Casualty days, and I'm very happy with that.
Synopsis: Jac and Fran get the shock of their lives when someone from their past turns up at the hospital, while Raf is ribbed by Fletch, spotting that he likes Essie a bit more than he's letting on, and encourages him to give things another go. When Donna's old schoolmate is admitted, she soon realises how her life has been completely turned upside down, and she has to face her fears.
