S20-E09 : ACHEWell, they may have made us wait until Wednesday for it (football!) but the Holby team served up a particularly fine episode! I'm a big fan of Jac and Frieda individually, so put them together and I'm always going to be happy, then there's James Anderson's continuing excellent work as poor, brain-injured Ollie.
And then there's Dofty. The scenes between Dom and Lofty and Sheilagh (Lofty's gran), in various combinations, were beautifully pitched - all three actors working so well together. Someone tweeted about the Lee Mead, David Ames, Wanda Ventham #dreamteam... and I won't argue with that!
After weeks, no, months of tortuously slow burn, it seems things may finally be moving forwards between these two - a situation both actors have referred to in recent interviews, Lee in recent radio chats about his new album and tour and David Ames in a piece in this week's Inside Soap. It's about flimmin' time!
Synopsis: Roxanna pitches an experimental treatment that could help Oliver recover. However, with acting CEO Serena reluctant to commit, can Roxanna convince Hanssen to return? Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Frieda will continue to help Jac when her mentor's pain reaches breaking point. And when Sheilagh receives an unsettling diagnosis, Dominic is determined to help Lofty plan her ongoing care. But is he doing it for the right reasons, or does he still carry a torch for Lofty?
