Lee Mead as Nurse 'Lofty' Chiltern on Holby City S21-E23 : IN THE RIGHT PLACE

I went from groaning at Dom's petulant behaviour as this episode opened to whooping at his strength as it ended - a beautifully written, twisty plot, littered with mind games and crossed wires, brilliantly acted by all concerned.

Isaac's malevolance is a living, breathing thing ... and if next week's preview and the Summer trailer are any guide, Lofty should run for the hills! But he won't of course, because he'll fight to protect the man he loves, even as his guilt won't yet let him fight all out to keep him...

Distinguising between the subject matter itself and its portrayal, may I say again how much I'm enjoying watching Lee, and David Ames (Dominic) and Marc Elliott (Isaac), play out this gripping story line.

Synopsis: In the hope of mending Isaac and his father Jon's relationship, Dom makes a risky decision which lands him in hot water, and while Dom and Isaac grow close during Jon's treatment it looks like history is repeating itself – will Dom fall under Isaac's spell? Meanwhile, Hanssen finds himself in unfamiliar territory when an estranged relative arrives at Holby begging for his help, but when doubt surrounds the patient's symptoms Hanssen must determine the root of the problem. And keen for a new start a revitalised Chloe returns to Holby and immediately throws herself into work, but her joy is short-lived when she learns distressing news ahead of an important meeting.

The full episode can be viewed on BBC iPlayer until 4 July 2019 while below, with my apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, is the Dofty edit...
