Festival of Remembrance .. 9 November 2019
Lee Mead gives a reaing at the Festival of Remembrance Lee was hugely honoured to have been asked by the Royal British Legion to perform at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and members of the royal family. Initially it was intended that he would do a reading but a day or two beforehand, he was asked instead to sing the hymn Morning Has Broken.

He sang it beautifully, with emotion and pride, paying full honour to the fallen. I was sad therefore to see some criticism on social media of him having the words to hand and I hope those people would have been more understanding had they known the circumstances.

Also taking part were Louise Dearman, James Blunt, Leona Lewis and Jeff Goldblum, with the Tri-service band, the Band of HM Royal Marines, the Central Band of the RAF and Colin Thackery & the Chelsea Pensioners choir.

Highlights from the afternoon's event were broadcast on BBC Radio 2 and included a brief interview with Lee before a slightly cropped performance. You can here the full programme on BBC Sounds until 9 December 2019 and Lee's section below.
