The show involved children from schools all around the area, 1000 young people from 12 counties according to Hybu's website, and was a real celebration of youth and community and above all of music. There were some extremely talented young performers, both vocalists and in the orchestra, and I particularly enjoyed the signing choir, who brought an astonishingly eloquent visual element to the songs they accompanied.
The massed choir joined Lee in singing 'Pure Imagination' and with his new album Some Enchanted Evening released the same day, perfectly themed for the evening with its selection of songs from the golden age of Hollywood musical films, he took the opportunity to share a little of it with the 3,000+ strong audience. In the first half we were treated to the fabulous 'Feeling Good', while later in the evening came 'All The Things You Are' and the title track 'Some Enchanted Evening'.
The show was filmed for DVD which can be purchased from Hybu and I include some extracts from it below which I think you'll enjoy!
While Lee was in Cardiff to rehearse for the concert, he spoke about it to Amy Pay from Made In Cardiff TV. The interview aired on their 'What's Occurrin' Cardiff' magazine programme on 9 February and you can see it below - I love Lee's closing words.
