John led Lee gently through his career from its earliest days on that now infamous Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry, via his first steps into musical theatre, his breakthrough with Any Dream Will Do and all that has followed since on stage, TV, musically and, with the lightest of touches, personally.
The reason for the interview was of course Lee's new Some Enchanted Evening tour which calls at Shanklin Theatre, Isle of Wight on Sunday 2 August. Lee last visited Shanklin in 2013 and with this all new show harking back to the golden age of Hollywood musicals, which he previewed in three intimate gigs at London's Pheasantry in late June and which opened in Bedworth a few hours after the interview was aired, his return visit is sure to be a hot ticket!
Tracks played during the interview, which you can hear in full on Lee's albums, were Paint It Black, Any Dream Will Do and Make It With You from his first album Lee Mead plus Through The Barricades and Holding On To Letting Go from the follow-up Nothing Else Matters.
