Of course, their chat ranged beyond the tour itself, touching on Lee's role as Lofty in Holby City and balancing work and family life. I found it fascinating to hear him talk of how he fell out of love for a while with the song he often says will be carved on his tombstone - Any Dream Will Do - understandable given how many times he's sung it, but that he's embraced it again primarily for what it represents to him and, I suspect, his fans.
That tour reaches the East Midlands on Friday 26 October, with a aforementioned visit to the Palace Theatre in Newark. There are a few tickets still available, and only a few chances left to see this wonderful tour - two later this weekend in Wellingborough and Redditch, one in Lee's hometown Southend in November and two rescheduled to March and August 2019 due to a clash with panto in Aberdeen!
