Lee joined Lynn Bowles, standing in this week for Behnaz Akhgar on the BBC Radio Wales afternoon show, to chat about his new single - Little Light - and much more besides. The interview itself was wonderful... warm, relaxed, with laughter bubbling up frequently as the two talked about the triple bundle of joy that is due for release tomorrrow - the live DVD and CD of Lee's brilliant 40th birthday London Palladium show are also out at midnight! - his recent My Band And Me tour, his next projects - panto in Bromley at Christmas and the UK Tour of Fat Friends the Musical next year, as well as life with and (hopefully) after COVID.
There were also fond recollections of his time on Casualty and Holby City, and his hilarious guest spot (as himself) on BBC comedy Motherland last year (all episodes now streaming on iPlayer).
But the highlight was surely the first play (in my hearing!) of the single... written by Steve Balsamo, it's just beautiful, lyrically and vocally. You can hear a snippet of it in the clip below, along with the full interview, or you can hear it in full on BBC Sounds about half an hour before the end of the programme. Or from midnight... on the device of your choice!
