Holby has done one of those off-screen quantum shifts in the two weeks since we last saw Lofty (Lee Mead), Helen (Verity Marshall) and Dom (David Ames) ... Lofty has gone from being coldly uncommitted to excited about becoming a Dad. I'll allow that he needed some time to get his head around things and adjust to the news, but I'd like to have seen some of that happening rather than having to make a rapid adjustment of my own during their first scene!
Anyway, it was a lighter-hearted trio that we saw this week, though not without a few wrinkles still to iron out ... it seems Helen not liking Abba may just be an adjustment too far for Dom! I enjoyed Lee's scenes with Serena (Catherine Russell) and Jason (Jules Robertson) - sound baby advice from both quarters.
Synopsis: A paranoid Jac feels she is the centre of hospital gossip when word spreads Emma is now living with Jonny, and as Elliot's concern for her grows will he ever be able to tell Jac his secret? After a few false starts Lofty is now determined to be there for his new family, but as he, Dom and Helen, the mother of his unborn child, clash over the basics will it be smooth sailing from here? Sacha's conflicted when his feelings for Essie bubble to the surface once more, but as it becomes clear Essie is on a different page when it comes to dating, will Sacha be able to move on?
The full episode can be viewed on BBC iPlayer until 11 November 2020 while below, with my apologies to those of the cast who have hit the cutting room floor, is the Dofty edit. There are a few screencaps too.
