Backed by his band (with Richie Blake standing in for Oroh on bass), and supported by Niamh Perry, Lee entertained the Derngate with his now familiar blend of relaxed banter and stunning vocals, moving from the emotionally-charged Through the Barricades and When You Say Nothing At All to the brazen flirtation of Kiss and the powerful intensity of Close Every Door and Anthem with ease, bringing the audience to their feet on more than one occasion.
But there was more ... December brought Christmas songs, firstly Lee's 'Chestnuts' (The Christmas Song) and later 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' ... the warmth of his voice wrapping his audience in velvet and awakening the Christmas spirit in even the hardiest of cynics!
The big fat snowflakes falling as we emerged from the theatre were entirely fitting ... although I wasn't alone in hoping it wouldn't stay, we had a concert in Birmingham to get to on the morrow!
